Role Models and Paradigm Shift: Frank, Paul, Marcel and Me
BWAF, in collaboration with the National Building Museum, presented Toshiko Mori, FAIA, founder and principal of Toshiko Mori Architect, to discuss her work, including the Darwin D. Martin House Visitors Center. The lecture followed a screening of the documentary film“A Girl is a Fellow Here”: 100 Women Architects in the Studio of Frank Lloyd Wright (15 min.). Produced by the Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation, the film explores the legacy of Frank Lloyd Wright. At a time when few architectural firms would hire women, Wright unhesitatingly employed women. Through their work and their own words, the film reveals what the women gleaned from Wright and where they departed from his model.
